Ok my friend is running an Fi BL 15 on stock electrical by means of an audioque 1200d. not really a problem, he's getting some bad voltage drops (from like 14 to 11) and he just got the bright idea to buy another BL 15 and a memphis 1000.1. What is going to break first? He's running 4ga. and i have repeatedly told him he needs a the very least a HO alt and 0ga before he installs the new stuff. he just won't listen.

just let him do it and he'll figure out you were right real soon...some people just don't believe it unless they see something first hand.

my guess

subs will fry 1st

he has gotta be a real dumb@ss for using 2 different amps

if it were me 1st thing id get is a ho alt & a good drycell upfront

& assuming his 1st sub is a d2 id buy a kicker zx2500 which is 2 ohms stable so that it can play a 2nd sub fine ......

I'll bet subs. When he gets those low voltage drops he is probably clipping them to bejesus and back.

This thread blows... lol j/p

Tell your friend to make sure the subs are in a common chambered box.... Might as well strap the amps while he's at it.

Did you ever let the memphis amp run really low on voltage? Thats why I think it will fry.

More likely the memphis will be first to fry.

why not the aq? cause it calls for 4awg?

Because memphis amps are known to fry on low voltage.

I wouldnt put just 4 gauge in the aq and if I had too I would run a short piece of 4 gauge out of a distribution block. The in of the distribution block would allow for larger wire to be used and the 4 gauge out would be very short and all of that would maximize current flow to the amp.

The suburban ran 2-pr1000.1 on stock alt and never had a problem... Of course it has since been upgraded.
