Wondering if anyone knows the problem. I was driving playing a hard hitting bass song and it cut out on me at the lowest notes of the song.

Dont know what happened, it smelled like something burned. I popped my trunk to see what was wrong and the protection light to the amp was on and my sub is not working.

When I first turn on my car my sub makes a noise so i dont think its blown, and i dont think my amp is screwed because im getting power to it.

Could it be a bad ground conection maybe?

Other info: Running a 12" alpine type r to a hifonics bxi 610

Anyways just let me know what you guys think, thanks.

Measure the voice coils with a DMM.
If there are no issues with the sub I'd check your voltage at the amp, the grounds and other connections.
