Strictly hypothetical situation here, but let's just suppose that a friend of mine needs a sub, 2 amps, a set of comps, and 110sqft of deadener installed for him. He wants to know what a fair price would be to have all this installed by another friend who wants to hook him up with a good deal yet doesn't want to be screwed at the same time.

Give me a price fellas.

The deadener might suck depending on where he's installing it.. headliner for example. Also is he running all of the wires to the comps and power wire back to the amps?

That is an easy 3-4 hours of work if the deadener is in a basic location. If not it could be 6+ hours easily. I usually charge friends $20-25 an hour depending on what it is.

depends on the equipment used... what does he want?? i can see easily 800-1000..

a budget system i think would be:
sub: 100-125
sub amp: 150
box: ~50
comps:~100
comp amp:100
deadener: ~100 (37.5 sq.ft. of raamat bxt right now on sale!!!)
misc. wires & install: another 150ish

total: thats 750ish right there but still its a guess..

doing 2 runs of 1/0 (+ and -) i solder all my 1/0 terminals on
run RCA's, remote wire, and speaker wire
sound deaden the door with second skin damp pro and use the left over in trunk and misc places needed.
install Hybrid comp sets.
install 2 amps
and install sub and box

then tune everything, but if i have my way i will be having dave edwards do the tuning for me... and if anyone knows who he is well yeah we are good friends :D

lol any regulars with a memory would know because of a previous thread..... why the secret? Yanks being too lazy to do the install---FTMFL... lol j/k yanks
Instead of the secrets, do a build log instead. Yanks should be able to at least take pictures. There are a lot of different things you could do to make this install informative and instructive. I am beyond ready to see that SS in action and hear a review!!

That is a major install and if it were anybody other than a friend or E- Member, you would be talking $300+ easy... I figure half price and a green fee for a quick 18, would be fair so long as Yanks was at least a Go-Fer!

depending how much of a deal you want to give him.. why don't you just call a shop and get some quotes.. and do it for half

then you'd at least know your giving him half off what he'd be paying

shop closet to me charges..

labor
$20+ parts for h/u
$50 for comps
$75 per amp
$100-$150 deadening (depending on car)

so lets just say $250.. charge him $125- any discount you see? And make him help roll that deadener..

I chrage $20 / hr simple as that. That goes for PC repair and car audio. I do more of the former.

Most PC jobs get me about $100 for a complete backup, reinstall, reload. Car audio for a full system would be about the same.

Lmao well Brockman called it out. Basically me and D-Money are trying to decide on a number for me to pay him without him getting ripped off and me being broke afterwards. I can help with it all. Granted I'd probably get in the way half the time but for the deadener, I can definitely do that. I'm a pretty quick learner and I'm not completely car audio dumb lol.

Yes, there will be a build log Brockman, don't worry lol

PS, rofl at Abarca :-)

Thanks for the comments and opinions fellas. David and I will figure it out based on these responses.
