About to buy a truck.. was originally set on an S-10.. found a few early 90s models. How do trucks compare to one another as long as they are small and ext cab?

For example.. does one of these have a distinct advantage in just SPL?

Chevy S-10
Ford Ranger
Dodge Dakota
Mazda B2200/3000
Toyota Tacoma
Nissan

What type of setup do you plan to do? Extended cab wall, no wall, blow through, etc?

my bad.. non-wall.. 3 15s.. port up subs forward

ALTHOUGH .. i did find a 91 s10 local with a 350 swap.. has a bed cap and the cab was cut.. so the whole thing is a blow through.. would make for a nice wall

but at the same time.. if i want a wall why not do a blazer or similar

For SPL you can't beat the S10. Been proven in the lanes over and over. Much like the CRX is for cars.

Does it matter which year S10? I mean obviously the early 90s put up big numbers but the newer you get.. how much do they differ?

I'm thinking about this S10 with a walkthrough local.. Onl'y problem is I'd have to build a solid wall where the window used to be just so I could run a standard box.. Or just wall it all together which I prefer not to do

umm.......2 best trucks ive played with/seen

86-93 mazda b2000-b2600i.
NO RANGERS
or the older square-ish s10s. not the newer curvey ones....

and id pass on the walkthrough unless you plan on running a blowthrough wall.

and i far as cant beat the s10 for spl......i know my mazda can :-) lol

the thing about the walkthrough.. its already got a nice motor swap.. i could be a loading wall behind the box 2-3" thick.. least there would be no flex where as there would be if the sheetmetal and window were there

problem is if i ever decided to compete in a diff org i'd be placed in a mod class

anyone have an answer on years?

square body is from like 81-93..

so how much advantage does a 91 have over like a 95 with the newer style body?

93 and older are the ones I have seen.

Known as a first generation S10. The ext cabs have long ruled in SPL.

sonoma = S10

They are identical expect for the badging. 99% of parts swap from one to the other.
