I'd vote the SE for better SQ but the other way around for SPL..

I've heard both, and owned the SSD.
They are pretty close together. The SSD has pretty good SQ, and so does the SE.

It is really going to come down to the install. Scott used to design the subs for RE, now he owns FI.

He is doing both as far as I'm aware. AA is their dealer based brand.

He works with AA, though I believe he's building more than owning. Hence the SMD/AA woofer Scott was making for Steve Meade.

i was told he didn't have as much in fi as people thought. and really most of his money and time is in AA

Lot's of rumors flying around in here. Scott owns Fi and AA, builds for both. As for the SE, it is an older design. Essentially the SSD is the next generation of what the SE could have been. Plus the SSD has a few options, and they are made here in the US, where as more then a few people have reported the SE's are now built overseas.
