hey so like the title says, i have one 12 inch type x subs...ive been getting different opinions from different people about what kind of amp i should get...i know a 1000rms watt amp would be perfect for the subs, but im not sure if i can afford any of the amps with that kind of power...ive heard from different dealers saying either that it doesnt matter if i get an amp with less power and underpower the subs, but the subs wont pound as hard..theyve also told me that if you underpower the subs, there is a greater chance of blowing the subs...
so i was just wondering what you guys think..i dont mind underpowering the subs cause i dont need it to pound at its max power..

If you want a great quality amp that isnt a 1000 watt, try either getting a JL slash 500/1 or an alpine pdx 1.600. You could pick one of those up for about $350 somewhere online. Or if you want to go with something with more power but not as much quality, though there wont be a huge difference, go with a hifonics amps.

They're cheap because they dont use the greatest parts to make them but i assure you it wont lack in loudness lol

So what is your budget for the amplifier?

200-300

350 if needed

the 1000rms watt amps all go for 500 and over, and im not sure if i want to pay that much for an amp...
but i for sure will pay that much if i there is a possibility of blowing the subs

So it is a 4 ohm DVC sub. That means you can wire 1 sub to either 2 or 8 ohms. Are you planning on upgrading with another type x so that you have 2 total? If so you would look for something that does 2k@1 ohm and 1k@2 ohms. If not, you want an amp that does about 1k@2 ohms.
For just 1 I would reccomend a Kicker 750.1

They are underrated amps and will probably do around 900@2 ohms.

For 2 It is going to cost more now but you will save money overall by buying what you need now. I would get an AQ2200D for $389. They are currently sold out, but you can call them and see when they would be back in stock.

I would also look at the Hifonics 2010, which is right around your initial $350 budget.
