The human hearing range can only hear increases in bass every 3 db, to get this you effextively need to double the wattage (or add 50% if u run 2 subs) Dont waste money on a slightly larger amp.

Go for quality, you may need your hearing later in life.

The box makes considerable difference sealed is the best sound quality, but ported (and slotted/vented/whatever) uses both sides of the sub in unison, a 6th order bandpass box will offer a 6 db increase is correctly dimensioned. Most front ported and sub facing will give u 3 db if done correctly.

The amp will only work with what its given, a 4v preout on an Alpine will sound better than a 2.2v preout on a sony with the same sub box amp combo.

Properly power everything, or no matter how many more amps and subs u add u wont get anywhere.

Dont buy used equipment, people dont often sell perfectly working merchandise.

Everyone talks about THD on an amp and no one discusses slew rate, more amps are better than big ones,

learn what the **** impedence is or prepare to fry some equipment.

If you think xplods rock, there is no helping u

People that want more take this advice. Don't post here let Micheal take a vacation for a few weeks that should give him enough time to get off his rag.

ok a 4th order bandpass can give up to a 12 dB spike at a tuned frequency, usually for SPL comp...

and i know you can hear the diff of 1 dB or less at a time so dont say that you can only hear in steps of +3 dB...

i agree with the sony comment...

and the impedance comment...

used equipment isnt always bad, as long as you know where it came from, how intensely it was used, how long it was used and when it was baught....if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is

the preout 4v to 2.2v comment is also very true...a great head unit is essential to a great system

oh and you forgot doubling your surface area also adds +3 dB

"The human hearing range can only hear increases in bass every 3 db"

1dB is measured as the smallest perceivable change. Not 3.

"sealed is the best sound quality"

aperiodic is better than sealed since it offeres superior cone control, and smooths out spikes in efficiency that a sealed box has due to it's reactive load nature. When you get near a sealed box sub's Fs, the speaker gets more efficient, tnd thus louder.

"a 6th order bandpass box will offer a 6 db increase is correctly dimensioned."

as high as 12 to 24dB increase with the proper 6th or 8th order box. These however also sound like total crap, and have only one purpose. SPL.
If you don't calculate the box precisely, you end up blowing the cones out of the subs, too. The design is very complex, and very difficult.

"The amp will only work with what its given, a 4v preout on an Alpine will sound better than a 2.2v preout on a sony with the same sub box amp combo."

the line voltage, when amp gains are set properly, only affect signal clarity and resolution.
A 4V line signal won't be any "louder" than a 2V one. Just cleaner.

"Dont buy used equipment, people dont often sell perfectly working merchandise."

sure they do. It's just a matter of buying wisely. When you buy from eBay, use PayPal and buyer protection. CYA.

"Everyone talks about THD on an amp and no one discusses slew rate"

don't be misled by specs. no one spec will tell you if an amp is good or not, and many are misleading anyway.
