Whats a good pair of running sneakers?
I plan on running in them, and maybe walking, but not skipping. and none of that fake power walking crap either. Just plain straight up running.

I found this really good pair. They are probably the most comfortable I have ever owned.

i bought a pair of brooks running shoes (pretty much buy them anywhere) but i went to a running place and got them fitted because i have real flat feet, etc. they cost 120 but i run probably 10-12 miles a week so i was glad to pay the extra money to prevent an injury. additionally, you should get a new pair of running shoes every 500-700 miles depending on the quality of the shoe...

brooks, saucony, new balance, mizuno, or asics. all good brands, don't mess around with shox or adidas sh!t

i buy a cheap pair of Nike $30-40(max) running shoes everytime i wear a pair out from the nike outlet store near my apartment. i run 3 to 5 miles every morning (weekday mornings) in them and i get a good 6 months out of them. why you starting running?

don't go with nike. they are probably the worst shoes to get (as far as running goes). i've been told this by many people that run marathons, several personal trainers, and by people i know in the army (they are instructed to never to wear nike during runs/marches cause they are the worst on your feet).

stick with new balance, or mizuno. i run about 70-100 miles a week in the summer outside, and in the winter about 40 or so miles on a treadmill. always in new balance and my feet never hurt. just find the best for you and don't go cheap.

MArc I would say either new balance or Nike.

I know why hes saying not to go with Nike it all depends on your running style. Also your how your foot is setup you know high arch low arch and what not the way you put your foot down when you run heel or toes first.

I personally run with Nike shox they feel good on my feet better than new balance.

And yes I agree for most people nike is a bad choice but when they work for people they are the best.

ps my experience I use to run everyday all day. Just started again 3 weeks ago and I was thinking about the boston marathon but idk i made it up to 5 mile runs after 1 week and am building on that but 26 is kinda tough especially the boston marathon lol. But goodluck running it under 4 wks to go.

Oh and snow hes right I wouldnt wear those shoes in southie lol

but for running the shoes make a huge diffrence. You could hurt your knees hip or back from running if you dont have the correct shoes on. Thats why when I was running with my reg adidas shoes then finally got my nike's in the mail my body felt much better after running

STFU Snow. Your not helping at all. So I take it your all done with suggestions.

What do you think of these? Just picked them up. Avia Running shoes. They seem to make my feet feel comfy. So you think its a bad idea to run the marathon?
I know how to run all ready, so its like that but for a longer time. I figure it will take 3-4 hours. I think I can handle that.

Honestly start out running 5ks. If you're just jumping into your first long distance running event(especially a marathon) then you're in for a huge surprise. After about 12-15 miles it doesnt feel like running anymore. And if your talking about running the the boston you must be talking about running in 2010 since registration is already closed this year(nor would you stand a chance by starting to train now). So i would suggest start training now.
And as for shoes ive been through alot and asics has always been best for me.

I am a huge NB fan too but Avia makes great running shoes... been around for a long time. Slap some Dr. Scholl's, or other high-end gel heel pads in there, and you're good to go.

I only wear Globe shoes. I know they're mainly for skateboarders, but they are really comfortable shoes.

Lol.

Anyway, tried them out today, ran out to the store to get a carton of cigs..Dammm They are like $80 a carton now. But they feel good.
As far as running.. I figure 3-4 redbulls that morning should take me a good distance.

Damn, how did I miss this thread??? Lots of funnies in here!

Anyway I wish you luck in the marathon, I would be dead about 30 feet before Paul (LMFAO BTW)

I have always told people that if they see me running they need to keep up because something really bad is happening. Building is on fire, somebody has a gun, etc. etc.
