Hey, I am able to get 6 Sundown E8's for $600. I think it would be a cool setup to do. But I have no idea about any 8 inch sub woofers.

If I had 6 of these subs in a ported box tuned around 32ish, powered right. How would the SQ be and the SPL be?

first off, you're being ripped off. woofercooker was selling these for $80 a piece, and is now selling them for $50 a piece.

second, from what I hear, they are great woofers, I wouldn't mind having some, but I don't really care for 8s myself.

I was thinking the same thing on the price. Who was offering them for $100 each?

Anyways, I have heard good things. If you want 6 subs, it should be a good option.

6 8's???

why?
what kind of sound are you looking for SQ, SQL, SPL?
sounds like you want SQL...
Why not 2 12's or a couple 10's?

i just dont understand why you are gonna run 6 8in subs lol

Yea, I'm looking for SQl

The reason 6 8's is cause of the looks, I think it would look pretty cool and 8's have a really unique from what I heard from 8w7's.

I might even get 8 of them.

But I wanna know the SQ and SPL of them

I'm thinking 8 E8's because of the looks and to try something different. My box will be ported. With the subs kind of angled towards each other.

Those are suppose to be really nice subs, but I know very little about them. IIRC 30-32hz is about ideal for them daily, I suggest asking on the sundown forum on ssa.

Curious, how much power you gonna give each?

Well, I seen a guy get 146.6 with 6 in a small ported box powered by a SAZ-3000 amp.

So I was thinking using that amp for 8 of them. Which is a little more than they ask for. But Jordan from Sundown plugged 2 directly into the wall for a good 5 mins, which is something like 3600 watts or something constant. So people say they can take alot of power.

Would that amp work for 8 of them?

Damn I didn't know they could handle that much!

It would work, but you wouldn't get full power from that amp. you could only wire it to 2 ohm, or you could try 0.5 but that's a whole different story.

Jacob from Sundown*.

If you wire it at 1 ohm or anything below that, you should watch the gain. You should be happy giving them each 300 watts or so. Especially if considering electrical and voltage drop.

Ive heard aiming them towards each other will cancel some sound out, but i dont know how much. just my 2 cents, maybe something to consider when thinking of the box

So how would I wire them down to 1 ohm?

Would it be fairly easy to wire them up to that amp at 1 ohm or lower?

Also is there any other amps that are better for 8 of these?

If they are single 4 ohm subs, and you run 8 of them, then you can only wire them 0.5 ohm, 2 ohm or 8 ohm. That amp is rated at 1600w @ 2 ohm, so you would be giveing each sub it's at their rated power (not sure how under rated the amp is, so might be more). I'm willing to bet the guy who did 146.6 with 6 of them was running that amp under 1 ohm. If you have the proper equipment and knowledge to run @ 0.5 ohm then I don't see why it would be out of the picture, but I have no experience with any either product.

Cozce is that referring to running 8 of them on an saz-3k?

if you can only wire them to 2ohms then get a kicker zx2500d it will give each sub a lil over 300rms and that amp will probably put out more than 2500rms, its underrated.

There are always other amps, its just which ones fit the budget and the electrical demand. which reminds me...have you incorporated the HO alt and batts you will need into your budget?

running 2-3krms is going to NEED a HO alt, Big 3, better than stock battery. no way around that...

I will be upgrading to an H/O alt and of course the Big 3 and two batts or so.

My budget for amp or amps is like $1200

What would be the most efficient way to power these? .5 ohms or 2 ohms? .5 right?

Is it fairly easy to wire to .5 ohms, and what amp would be best?

The guy runniny the 6 E8's off of the SAZ-3000 is running in parallel at .66ohms. Would 8 work like that?

You should talk to that guy via messaging. Ask him about his gain and how the e8's seem to be taking it. 8's will obviously take the power better.

What do you mean 8's will take the power better? Take the better over what?

Your only choices are 0.5, 2, and 8 ohm. but you probably won't find an amp that will do the power you need at 8 ohms, so scratch that. You need to wire the subs according to how the amp is designed/built.

Check out this site...http://www.bcae1.com/. On the right hand side on the page read and links that say "ohm" and "resistance" in them. And if you have time read everything else too. Bookmark that link, it's very helpful and easy to understand. Also do a quick google search on ohm's law.

So you're going for a SQ install with 6 8's off 2.5-3krms? Interesting.
