Fujitzu Ten makes Eclipse.

As far as alpine being better, very debatable. Both are great brands all around, ive run both Alpine and Eclipse and never had problems with either.

I would take the 9886 because that and the 87 are just about unbeatable.... but there's certinly nothing wrong with eclipse, sounds like that guy just wants to sell you something.

the difference on a CD between any two CD players is undetectable by the human ear. especially true in a car with 80dB of road noise to overcome.
the peak volume depends on your amplifiers not your head unit.

both questions are pretty much moot or invalid.

choose the one that has the features you want and the asthetics you prefer.

Errr? If one CD player has an overall better EQ than the other, there will be a HUGE difference.

That is a feature...

And anyone who is serious about EQ tuning and actually knows how to do it properly would be using a high quality EQ not a built in one.

Bottom line is glass is right... there will not be difference in SQ between two good quality HUs (alpine and eclipse) and one HU is not louder than another.

Features are what make up a CD player.
