2 amps to one sub

hey,,i have 1 dvc subwoofer rated between 1500 to 2000 RMS and i have 2 kenwood kac-8104D mono amps exactly the same..i was wondering could i some how bridge them together to power the one sub..

the sub can is wired at the moment at 2 ohm.the amps give 4 ohm 300watts rms each and 2 ohm 500watts rms...can any one help cheers

First of all bridging is when you combine two or more channels on a multi channel amp. Combining two subwoofer amp is strapping.


That amp is not strappable you you can't.

You could run one amp per coil. Make sure you have the settings as close as possible on both amps. You won't get much more power than a single amp at 2 ohms, but a little.

yh what if i wire both amps up and using one of them voltage meters check the wattage coming out from each channel,making sure its the same. then wire each amp to each coil??will that work or im a missin sumin?and will it give 1000watts rms coz each one is 500rms

If he has a dual 4 ohm coiled sub, then coils in parallel on one amp is a 2 ohm load.
one amp per coil is a 4 ohm load per amp.
same total power output either way.

One amp is the correct impedance for the sub. Two together are not.
