does anyone know how a type x sounds in a sealed box? I know that it can get loud, but i want tight bass. Specs say between .65-1.25 cubes. Should I get one custom made or go for a prefab one?

Sealed boxes are very easy to make.. With the Type-x, I would go 1.25 to 1.5 cu. ft. 3/4" MDF with double baffle.

Make sure that sub is getting 1000 -1200 wrms

if you need a lil smaller sealed enclosure, try adding polyfill

so a 1.2 sealed box would be alright? and maybe add some polyfill if needed. i had 2 type r's in a 4 ft cubed ported box before, how do you think it would compare? thanks a lot mark, youve been a great help

if the 2 type R's are the same size as the type X, i would say they get louder.

if the type X is a 15 and they were 12s or 10s then the 15 might be louder.

im assuming its a 12 because of the specs ur using for the enclosure.

The type-r's are gonna be a lot louder than the type-X. But it should sound loud and clear.

i haven't sold the r's yet and still have my 4 ft. cu. ported box. i like my setup as it is its just a lot of room and really too much bass. the r's fire up and i have my 2 kicker amps mounted on the box so when you open the trunk you see the 2 amps and the 2 r's. only had the r's for about 8 months, seems as though i should just keep them. would the "tighter" bass be worth it with the x in a sealed box?

if you keep the type r setup i would remove the amps from the box...from what i know and have heard its not good for the internals in the amp...and should only be done as a last resort and u need to stiffen up where they are gunna be mounted and add something to absorb the vibrations inbetween the amp and the box, such as a peice of rubber

Renegadesrun, what do you mean by "Its like putting a Viper engine in a city bus"?

and with the size of the box, it really was my last resort, havent had any issues so far...
