for one im not comparing them. its not my money nor is it my car. Ill never buy JL unless i get a really good deal. i just wanna get opinions on this stuff and which amp would be better. i went to the JL stores and the demos sucked. other products was mtx, kicker, RF, memphis, genesis amps (out of $range), sony(deff no). When I get my settlement money i'll probably get 4 12"sonances

Polk is not so bad if you are aiming more for SQ and not so much for SPL.
Another option would be ordering a sub or two from ficaraudio.com
Fi is extremely good and reasonably priced.
The main guy at Fi is the same guy who designed the first and second gen RE subs that are still so well regarded.

I use an Fi Q15 myself presently.

I wouldn't say that polk speakers are not good. I think their momo series sound very nice imo.

with Polk a lot depends on the particular speaker.
In home audio this is true as well. Their lower end stuff is pretty much considered junk, but their upper end stuff gets some respect.
Personally I use two pair of the FXi3 dipole surrounds in my HT setup and they are fantastic, but they also sell for $420/pair for what is essentially a 5.25" driver and two silk tweeters in an MDF enclosure.

SQ is the goal here. oh yeah there was a jbl dealer but thats a no go. i'll check out fi. i might tell them to get the momo comps, but the dbs seem pretty good. its not a really fancey build or anything. so how bout amps the polk or RF?

between the two, go with RF for amps.
for the sub, look at the Fi Q series.. they are loud, but geared for SQ.
great subs.

i was just checking them out. they look pretty good. i couldnt find anything on warrenty, the polks have a 3yr. and those might be too much cause i'll need three amps total, plus do the alt instead of the big3

If you do the alternator, you HAVE to do the Big 3. You are upping the current generating capacity but not the cables that carry the current if you don't.
