I just purchased a RE SX15 sub with a 4^3 ported box tuned to 34hz, which is what the RE web site sets as optimal for the sub. Now I must purchase an amp in the $300 - $400 range. Has anyone have any experience with the Boss brand or Hifonics amp. I need approx. 1000 rms for this sub and both brands have amps that would fit. Looking for a mono class d in the above price range. any feedback would help significantly.

ma audio is complete junk... don't even waste the money. there are plenty of amp that you could get. you could put 1200 rms into the sub easily, so you could look at the audioque 1200 if u wanted. But yes, hifonics is just a budget amp, its decent and will get you to where you want. Don't really care for boss amps either

AQ 1200d or RD 1000.1 would be great for that sub

Is the sub Dual 2 ohm?

If so, the RD 1000.1 would be perfect.

I appreciate it the info; however, it is a little outside my son's budget of around $300 for an amp.

MA isn't highly thought of, but the HK amps are respectable. It looks like the 2000D is 300+ though, and for a 1000w sub the AQ1200D would be better for the cost IMO.

HKs are way overrated, I don't call that respectable
