i'm kinda new to car audio so i'm a bit confused. i have a Crunch P1100.2 2 channel 1100 Watt Amp. Here are the specs:
RMS Power @ 4 Ohm: 1100W x 1
RMS Power @ 2 Ohm: 550W x 2
RMS Power @ 4 Ohm: 225W x 2
I've decided that I want to get 2 12" Alpine Type Rs, but the whole ohm thing confuses me. Should I get the 2ohm or 4ohm model? I prefer SQ over SPL, but I want them to be decently loud too. I'm also planning to use a sealed box. Help would be greatly appreciated!

That amp will put out about 550 watts rms. You will want two dual 4 ohm alpine subs to get a 4 ohm mono load on the amp.

^^^ what he said

But you only really have enough power for one type R.

Always look at RMS power peak/max means nothing.

That is peak watts... means nothing... RMS watts should be half that

^^^I believe that is its RMS he posted M.S. But also that amp is probably a good 15-20% overrated, if not more.

Yeah if you want to run 2 type Rs you need an amp that does 1500w RMS or more.

thanks for the help, I like the Audioque 1200d, seems like it puts out a good amount of power and isn't too expensive. Would I need any electrical upgrades in my car if I got this amp?

So it has the 105amp alt. right?

You should be alright. Just upgrade the big 3 and keep an eye on your voltage.
