I have a higher end model of the JVC (KDAR880) Mine is great. I havn't heard that kenwood unit, but my vote still goes to the JVC.

The sound quality will be much better than like one of those radio players, but it will not be as good as a CD or a usb connection.

I messed with one of these at a shop I use to go to, the ipod control is pretty fast. Not a bad hu at all.

I also have the KD-AR880, but that will run you $150

Still it is the best HU at that price

I've installed a couple JVC's and they're alright. The one you linked is similar to one of them. The user interface isn't that great but it gets the job done. If it was me I'd go with the first pioneer that Berns linked, since IMO the new pioneers have a flimsy feel to them.

JVC is a great company but like Sony, they never really felt the need to put out top notch car stuff. I haven't messed around with the newer ones but if MS and Kevin say that model is good... then it's good. But out of all the ones mentioned above I would get the Pio 5900 refurb. $126 shipped is a steal for that deck.

With JVC the aresenal line are the only HUs that a worth it...... even on those the interface isn't top notch but the USB support is great.

ok cool. so a lot of these id on't see if they have a usb plug on them.
she has a pioneer ahu already but i am not sure want kind. i was thinking maybe find something so her ipod will work on it. it does not have an aux. we put the ipod in it with the RCAs and it would play out of either front or back speakers but it would play the radio at the same time so i am not sure if u can get soemthing to make the ipod work in it.

There might be an adapter for it, but that will probably cost as much as a new HU.

what was the model number for her headunit now? There is an ipod adapter that I use for my headunit and her model might support it.

Haha. That's the other one I put in. It's in my brothers car. I never really got to play around with it though. You can definitely get it cheaper somewhere else. I think my bro got his for like 140 or so.

Yeah the KD-AR880 has a usb and I think there is a kenwood unit with a usb on the front that isnt all that expensive.

i couldn't get in to details kevin cause i didn't build any of those headunits. my OPINION is based soley on my experience of using both brands. i got a couple of friends that have the jvc units and the kenwood units in their cars. i am the one installing and setting it up for them. and by far the kenwood is better beween the 2.
