I am looking to buy new subs since my L5s just blew. I was looking at either getting L7s or Type Rs. I have a JBL BP1200.1 amp. Here is the specs for the amp - http://www2.dealtime.com/xPF-JBL-BP1200-1. I want the subs to be really loud but have sound quality too. If anyone has any suggestions please share.

Thanks!

What size... There is not much of a price difference between the 15s, but there is almost a 100 dollar difference between the 12s. I haven't heard a L7, but the type-rs are great.

I say get kicker cvr's if you want loud and sq since they get louder than type r's. But they still retain some form of sq. or if you can afford them get the kicker cvx's

ROFL! In that case, look for a pair of funky pups over the kickers.

Type-r's would crush CVR's all day every day. except April 1st.

Out of those go with Alpine Type R's.

Also take a look at RE SE 12's.

R

but look around more out of the mainstream or "big store brands" and u will find better quality at the same prices. Some other brands to check out are Fi, RE, RD, audioque, Ascendant audio, Sound splinter, DC.

In my opinion the L7 and L5s have no sound quality but if you were fine with the L5s then its your call.

if you want db's then the L7 by all means, in the right ported enclosure you will be doing 146db easy.

"what about JL W3s?"

w3's are ok but id pass on them. I had a 12 w 3 in my old monte carlo z34. But the w6 v2 12 is much better. Go with that over the w3 for sure.

The 12 w6 v2 has very good sq with average output probably around 132 -135 db with 500 watts in a ported box depending on the vehicle.
