Hi Guys I am new here. I recently got a dd9512g with the composite cone running off a z2 amplifier.I run it at two ohms Cause I am not sure if I have enough power in the car to run it properly yet. I don't do spl, just pissing about over town listening to loud music. When I turn the sub up, the bass will be clean but after about two songs, I will get a smell similar to wood burning. Doesn't smell electric at all. It def comes from the sub cause I can smell it in the port vent. Also will the z2 amplifier cut out if it doesn't get enough power? Both are brand new. Thanks in advance

Gains, bass boost. Sounds like the coil frying.

Holy moly do the screws in your box need spaced out more evenly lol.

Nice stuff though.

Thanks lol. I had four hours of daylight to build the box and install the stuff and it was pretty much touch and go for a 250 mile trip home after that. I am seeking some box designs as I am only using this one for testing purposes, thus no acoustic carpet and bad wiring. I am planning to rip the bottom of the boot out and replacing it with 3/4" mdf and work from there. Thanks for the reply though

What kind of charging system do you have?
Batts/alt?

At the moment it's just the stock 70a alternator and 45a bat. I had a nsb90 but gave it to a friend just before i got these! Need to do an upgrade on the big 3 as well.

If you smell anything turn it down immedietly, it's already damaging the sub at that point

if the sub is brand new it could just be burning off excess glue

check you voltage and see how far it is dropping.

It its getting below 10v, you are clipping the fu}k out of that amp.

The minimum it reads at the back is 10.34 volts and that is when I play it over the volume I normally listen to. At the same volume, the front jumps between 11.60 and 12.60 volts. I obviously need to do my big 3 and do a few more 0 gauge runs to the back. What do you think?
