I could save you money if it wasnt from cc.

And if a buy.com credit card looks good in the details you could save another 30 bucks.

i would not go with HP, compaq, Acer, e-machines.. Look into Toshiba Satellite, Sony Vio,or Gateway.

BTW, I do repair, upgrades, ect.. as a side job.. That is why I said what I said..

My $.02

i work at geek squad i get 90 percent dell, toshiba and gateway, in for repairs. most of the percentage is toshiba, gateway along with emachine. the other 10 percent are hp so i'd reconsider. i also own 4 hp's 1 dell

btw some important tips , acer is i think in with emachine and gateway, i think they are owned by one company. ether way i see them more then i'd ever like to. toshibas big failures are harddrives and the dc jack so just be easy with the dc jack and keep ur data backed up to other media. the screens use to be very problematic on older toshibas. they seemed to improve it a little bit.

I used to do web design/computer programming and the satellite or vaio would be my choice. I've had 2 vaio laptops and had great performance with both of them. God I think the oldest one is about 5 years old now and it still works great. It keeps up with some cheaper new notebooks still.
