so i was driving home from work and playin my music like how i usually bump it loud. I was playin knockin heads off by lil jon im like half way home on a 30 min drive...and all of a sudden the bass sounds like its only playin half the volume. I dont know what happened. I have a hdc315 on a clarion dpx11500. Does it sound like i have a blown sub? or could it be something with the amp. thanks guys.

im thinking maybe one of the voice coils is blown since the sub still works but doesnt pound hard like it did before.

couple things

1) check that both RCAs are firmly connected

2) if dual coil sub, check all wiring connections... put a DMM set to ohms on the speakers terminals and verify the impedance.... that will tell you if a coil isn't connected.

^lol yeah dude. but anyways i took a DMM and put it on the one positive and negative side of the sub and got 2.0-1.9 reading and the other side i got .3.-.0 so i take it thats the blown/open coil side..ill have to talk to dj about it. thanks for help anyways.

so i talked to dj and its going to cost $165 for them to do the recone plus $40 bucks shipping return. so thats like $250 bucks. so im thinking of just selling the sub to someone who knows how to do the recone themselves its cheaper. Thinking of getting a new sub now.
