IVA-W505 and blackbird

My girl is starting her christmas shopping and wants me to decide between the 505 and blackbird and a weekend snowboarding trip.

Has anyone used the 505 w/ or w/o the blackbird? I have the W200 now but I want navi and am not ditching alpine HUs and theres no way am addinng the navi to mine. Any input?

Am I correct in reading that it only takes the balckbird II or could I use the original? 500 is expensive but if thats what it takes...
