Im running a sdc2.5 15 an 1000 watt mono amp. It gets loud enough for my liking in my 04 grand am..

Any idea what the decibels might be around?

What do you hit daily?

Whats the concern for hearing damage?

hearing damage is something u can get with out before u even relize it. u prolly wont even be able to tell for a long time.
at 140+ it does damage just like that.
things lower can do damage but it has to be a constant sound. like a lawn mower or a chain saw running.
playing beats in ur car is not as bad as u think unless ur around that 140. . or playing songs that has constant bass.

u can damage ur hearing as low as 80db can do damage but u have to have that 80db for something like 9 hours straight before any damage is done.

more people get hearing damage with head phones than they do with systems in there cars.
i wrote a paper on it last semester

and i have to ask! how is the sd holding up to 1K?

I hit 127 db at 41 - 43 hz in a selaed box using my image dynamics idq 12 on 350 watts in a trunk and my seats dont fold down. One thirty five to one thirty eight db would be my guess. You might hit best at 48 - 52 hz.

i would guess low 30's if it was a good install, or high 20's. In the trunk with only 1K?
And go get metered if you want to know for real.

Ill try to get some pictures up and a video or something. Its actually holding up pretty damn good.. I didnt really think the box i made was gonna come out as good as it did

The thing really bumps, i had no idea just 1 15 would blow my old system away. But when my wing starts moving up and down, Its gotta be up there.

I was going to do the big 3 but cant figure out where the power wire runs off my alternator to. I dont really want to rip everything apart just to do it, but i dont know where to start.

asking this question is going to be a guess pretty much on every ones part....
im going to estimate (129-134) your within that range depending how well your box and installation are you might be a TAD louder...

That is true, But that 870 watts is damn loud enough for my liking.

Ive basically got it turned all the way up. Is that bad? How should i fine tune it, cause it overpowers my speakers just a lil bit sometimes.

Where do you think i could go to get it metered>?

I predict a 142.4
The reason why is because the Alphapenagoram Theorem suggests that the number of your score is based on the way the model of your car spelled. "Grand Am" leads me to believe that you are going to achive a 142.4 because of the order of the letters. The .4 is the year model of your car.

You would have more of a advantage if you bought a '09 year car that its first three letters are early in the alphabet. This gives you the advantage over other competitors.

Meaning your gain is all the way up? if so thats bad you will prob cause clipping. put in a test tone turn gain to 0 and HU volume up 3/4 and turn the gain up til you start to hear distortion then turn it down slightly and youve got your gain set
