Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows what I should do or has any opinions on my situation. I have a 95 plymouth neon, and my friend has some 6x8 Pioneer speakers that I want to put in my car, but I don't know if it would be possible to make them fit in a 6.5 area. Also, he's giving me his other 6x8s for my back speakers, and I'm pretty sure I can make those fit, becuase my back speakers are 6x9's. But if anyone knows a good way to make speakers fit, or if it will not work, your help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jason
Don't do it. 6x8's don't sound as good as a a good set of 6.5" speakers. Oval speakers distort quickly and don't offer the sound quality of a round speaker. I'd stick with 6.5" speakers (components preferred), also put 6.5" midbass drivers in the 6x9 holes such as from Image Dynamics or Adire Audio Kodas. That'll sound loads better than 4 6x8's. They probably won't fit, but it depends on the car's mounting options. Some mount speakers on a flat panel while some have a protruding plastic enclosure that will only fit a 6.5" speaker.
