Is Deck Important?

I was wondering if the deck made much of a difference in the sound quality of the music. I am going to go with component speakers and was wondering if it was worth upgrading my deck to get the full amount out of the speakers. I only paid $100 retail for the deck i have now. Its just a cheap kenwood.

Thx on any advice

Yes, a better HU could definitely deliver better SQ than a less quality HU.

Bose home theater does not sound like crap, although the are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced and I would never own a Bose system because of that.

Simply put about Bose.......

Marketing over engineering.

Like so many other overpriced products ppl are drawn to higher prices because of the illusion. It's expensive as hell so it has to be great right? The drivers are cheaply made and the subwoofer is not consumer repairable. They don't want you to see the inside for a reason. Don't just take my word for it.......

$200-$300 for a great H.U. Althought they can get A LOT pricier..

What is your budget?
Are you running an external EQ and/or crossover?
What media formats are you wanting to be able to access?

my budget is around $300 for the head unit.

I want to do a complete re-do of mys peakers. Right now i got 4 inch fusion speakers int he front and 6x9's in the back. I have a 12" alpien type R sub and i cant enjoy it because of the poor sound quality of my speakers.

I was looking to get component speakers and defently an amp for this. I jsut do not know where to start because i dont know what component speakers to get.

My budget for speakers and amp is around $1200

thanks for any help mark

with that budget you can get a real nice front-stage...

components... look at:
CDT
Diamond
Infinity kappas
rainbow
focal
PG
ect... many others

Many nice amps to choose from:
Alpine
sundown
PG
Diamond
DD
Audioque
Kicker
Clarion
ect... many others

H.U.
Alpine
Eclipse
Pioneer Premier
JVC
ect... not many others..

This should point you in the right direction

If you want "real nice" equipment Infinity and PG should NOT be in that list...... those are mediocre at best and nowhere near the level of high end CDT, Diamond, Rainbow, Focal.

^^^^ I second that. Although a lot of times you can save some $ and get the 9886 since a lot of people won't use all the special features

well IMO you can beat $275 shipped new for the 9887 for what it does..

the 9886 is a good h/u.. but look at it this way.. get the 9887 and youll have a deck for years unless you really get serious in SQ

Also chad don't run your components off a HU...... even with a good HU a good amp will make a huge difference.

O ok M.S so what i gather is I will run my component speakers to my amp, and have my 6x9's run to my HU?

also is the PIONEER-DEH3900MP a good buy? or is the alpine cda-9887 better?

don't go with pioneer, stick with brands i lsted. and yes, the 9887 is alot better than that pioneer model.

and yes, for best imaging you'll want a 2 channel amp for the components and leave the rears running off the hu. but, that is all personal preference. some like rear fill, some don't.

Hybrid Audio has some great customer service if that means anything to you Chad. Their owner (Scott Buwalda) and I exchanged many emails when I was thinking about buying a set. If you have any questions on them, I would email him and talk to him about it. I have a set of their Clarus C61-2 components but haven't installed them yet.

You could also run a 4 channel amp to your components and run active. More work to run active but the benefits are worth it from those I have talked to about it.
