Im going to be running a RD 1000.1 and a component amp around 300 wrms and Im trying to decide if I should just pick up a nice, second battery or get a bigger alt. I obviously want to go with the cheaper option but I want to do it right. Any input?

Battery is not a substitute for an alternator.

If you don't have enough power it's good to upgrade both though. But definitely the alt.

I'm in the same situation, an ed nine.1 (1200-1300wrms) with a 320wrms component amp. I just don't have an extra 300-400$ to spend on a new alt with install. Anyone have a budget brand for HO alts?
btw what size alt would I need knowing I am running around ~1500wrms?

Awesome alts at pretty good prices. i would run 175a+ with 1500rms and then upgrade the starter battery as big as you can. Ull be set.
