Does a slotted box work any better than ported?? Or does it still have the same SQ problems?

Actually the volume isn't the key... it's the length (same regardless of round or slot) and the area(LxW for slotted or PixR^2 for round.)
I can have a 2" long port and a 6" long port with the same volume but they will have drastically different tuning. The length is set in stone but the shape of the port is up for grabs.
I prefer slot ports for bandpass or multi-chamber enclosures and round ports for standard vented enclosures. Either way you go, the port specs must be exact or there may as well be no port at all.
