What coils?

Hopefully dual 2, then get a Audioque 1200d, $250 and the best amp you will find for the price.

If it's dual 4 then Kicker ZX1000.1 but you'll be shelling out a bit more cash since good quality 2 ohm amps are not as common.

It can handle more power yes, and would be bit louder. Is it absolutely needed, no.

I would get dual 2 which wires to 1 ohm b/c there are MUCH more options out there for 1 ohm amps. But if you decided to use your alpine you have to get dual 4.

i think i would rather have it wired at 1 ohm but what are some good brands of amps to get? and also with the alpine isnt it bad to underpower a sub?

it isnt always bad to underpower a sub in respect to how much you are underpowering it. if the sub is 1000 rms and it is getting 70 or 80% power that is fine. however, you dont really want to overpower it, because that will matter. i had a 500 rms sub and had 650 rms running to it, and it sounded amazing, had the gain turned down appropriately and it blew in a matter of weeks. as far as a good amp to run at 1 ohm i would say the best would be a U.S. Amps, mainly because they are so efficient. efficiency is important. next to that you can go based on money and quality. some good brands are sundown, audioque and elemental designs nine.1 it just all depends on what you want out of an amp that makes it "good".

Your really not going to hear much of a difference in output going from 800 to 1000 watts probably no more than 1 db which you can barely hear. Plus it will put more demands on your charging system which is probably stock. What vehicle do you have?

Well depending what year and engine you have you could have anywhere from 105 to 145 amp alternator. They have a 160 amp alt for it but it doesnt seem like that would be likely the way they have it listed.

Get it in dual 2, and an Audioque 1200d and you're set. That alternator can handle it.

You need to decide now whether you're getting 1 or 2 so that you can get them with the correct ohm coils.

If you got another sub you would have to get a different amp

The site I used says the 100 amp is the standard option for that year and engine.

You could do that. But a good amp that does 2000w at 2 ohm and is also stable at 1 ohm is gonna be $500+

The audioque 2200 $389 plus shipping is a good idea for power like that 1300 at 2 ohm and 2200 at 1 ohm. But I will say this using your stock alternator and battery your going to see dimming with just one sub when its cranked even at 1000 watts. Your vehicle uses part of the alternators power for basic electrical needs.

If your sure you only want to run one sx 12 then the dual 2 ohm and the audioque 1200d is the one to get. But if you wanted to run two sx 12's you would just need two dual 4 ohm subs and get the electrical support to run them and the audioque 2200d.

Oh snap I read wrong. You only need 1000w at 2 ohms, with 1 ohm stable to upgrade later.

The AQ 2200d would be a great amp for that application. In fact it's probably the best deal you will find.

Well you wouldn't be able to get its full power at 1 ohm with a stock electrical

so jus get the 1200 then?

You could get the 2200 and run it at 2 ohms with one sub (sub needs to be dual 4)

But if you added another sub you would need a HO alternator and battery to get the 2200w at 1 ohm from the amp.

Agreed with juliob, I'd get bigger wire and forget the cap it's useless.

Get a dual 2 ohm SX for the 1200d.

And prefab boxes usually suck, the box needs to be made to the specs of the sub. These guys make good boxes

Can't say for sure there are too many factors in play to say that.

But it will definitely sound better.

Jordan if you do decide to go with this you should make a video and post it up.
I had been looking at these subs for awhile but I have never seen one in action.
Good luck with your choices.
