so almost every one had arrow ports.
any reason for that?
i mean... arrow or slot would be the same but it seemed like most of them spent a lot of time making arrow ports

an AQ 15 HD3 hit 144db off of only 700wrms

with 2 12s hifonics xxx running on 4k in a hatch got in the 149.somethings

there was an other dude with 2 12 t2s in a trunk that got 149.9, he got first

everything was door open at front dash.

a guy had a wall with 10 10s and only got 148. big let down

It's all about air resistance and turbulence.

Arrow ports direct sound toward the listener enabling very high SPL.

You're looking at +20dB compared to slot ports.

There are actually a few reasons for that. Sorry if I get technical here.
"Arrow" ports are actually louder because they direct air in the form of an arrow to the listener like brad said. They are very precise. You can point them anywhere, and that is where you will be loudest.

The trick is to hire a plumber of some sort, and get him to run some PVC pipe from your box to your dash. Place the meter on your dash and you will immediately gain DBs. Of course, make sure all the fittings are sealed up correctly.

The science behind it was created by a older scientist named "Johnny A-row" Hence where the name "arrow" ports came from. He was a master in Neurosoundoligyitus. He discovered this idea by rejecting the null hypothesis into his acoustical performance. They are still popular today.

Hope that sums it up for you man.
If I'm wrong on any of this info, please feel free to correct me.

i heard it was 5 Db. / arrow port. So would need 4 ports to get 20 extra DBZ! Isn't that the rule of thumb?!?

No... its carbon fiber with mink hair. It has a golden plated tip however that drives the ladies and dBs crazy.

Its mostly for looks but adds around 10-12dB.

Seriously now. Aero ports have an advantage of allowing more airflow with less port area because of the flared design that cuts back on resistance. Using them also cuts down on the length of the port which is also beneficial because you want to have a port with no turns for greater spl potential. The lower amount of displacement an aero port takes up can also be useful. You could use the flared idea on a slot port as well but I answered it according to a standard slot port design.

Toddler stable; man with history of mental problems detained after attack

Associated Press August 8, 2008- A knife-wielding man stabbed a 10-month-old baby in her stroller, critically injuring her, police said.

Isabelle Avins was rushed to a hospital where she underwent surgery Wednesday night. She was listed in critical but stable condition, police spokesman Detective Brian Sessa said.

At the family's request, the hospital on Thursday declined to provide further details.
