It will be running 'dry'.
Got my C4a running active, so the HU's speaker outputs will not be used.

Nice HU in terms of features, but still pioneer..... Not trying to bash your decision/judgment but I wouln't have bought another pioneer after just having the RCAs blow on one.

Lol I was thinking it. But those comments seem to be what makes people think I'm an azz haha. So now I'm trying more to give the reasoning why I say what I do.

Haha you bring up that topic again but you're wrong lol.

I've said it before: every pioneer HU I installed was working fine when it left my garage. It's a year or so later that I get ims or calls from people asking "how do I get rid of this buzzing noise in my speakers"..... yeah.

And then I re-ground their RCAs for free cause I feel bad about recommending them a pioneer HU before this problem with the current ones was known.

Install or user error.

The ones I have installed have been going for a year+ with no problems at all.

Ground before RCAs.

that is a sick unit. one of the best sq unit out there. its worth grounding the rca just to use that. that is if you made a mistake of blowing the microfuse.

like nick said, it will be fine if you do a good install. my pio indash didn't blow the fuse until i touched the + and - on it. you do that to any head unit and you will encounter problems.

You don't know that for sure. One of them the guy said it happened right after he disconnected and reconnected his battery to replace his starter and he never touched the audio system.

its true. my pioneer 980bt just did that all of a sudden. it was working fine then when i was driving home all of a sudden it blew. of course i fixed it with rca ground.

i think it had something to do with the dynamat i had on the door where my speakers were mounted. i think the backing was too close to the terminals on the speakers.

You don't know for sure that "one of them guy" was lying lol. The ones I have installed (and plus the two I have owned for myself) have never developed the problem. I did have a Profile amp that caused a high pitched wine, though.

Most of the cases I have seen have been due to some type of user or install error. I always disconnect the ground before I mess with the RCAs, and everything is still going smoothly.

Got it straight from our distributor (at the shop).
Ordered it and a bunch of Metra kits/harnesses yesterday.

That one Distributor is great, we can get most things next day w/ no extra charge.
Just have gotta get the order out by 3pm.

It looks ghetto as hell but it works.

BTW, what horrible thing did you do to your HU. B/c according to Nick V all pioneer RCA problems are from user error

"B/c according to Nick V all pioneer RCA problems are from user error"

You're still butt hurt about that noob mistake you made with yours?

All the issues I have seen have been either user error, or something else causing the wine such as an amp.

Sorry I can not agree with you, because I have never seen the problem. No need to throw a fit.

Haha and what noob mistake would that be. You just don't seem to get it, every piece of equipment the leaves my hands is in perfect condition. It's later on that several of those HUs had the RCA problem.

And not throwing a fit just pointing out someone else who may be able to support my argument. (unless he did do something dumb with it)

there's a less ghetto way of doing the ground.

get yourself a y adaptor. splice one of the cable on the y part. take the outer strands and twist it so it becomes like one cable. then ground that to the headunit chasis. then plug the y adaptor to the headunit and plug your rca to the other end that you didn't splice.

you will need 1 male to 2 female y adaptor.
