that's something unrelated to 6th order bandpass. you should refrain from acting on impulse next time your temporal lobe decides "rofflecopter" is the right thing to say.

in other words, next time you think about typing rofflecopter in a thread you have no point of view in, don't.

and if you are a 6th order bandpass expert, which by your ecoustics posting background i highly doubt you are, please help.

What kind of 6th order are you looking to do?

Standard tuned bandpass?
Dual reflex?
3 chamber?
Isobaric?

Im building a 4th order bandpass isobaric right now for a friend. Not quite the same as 6th order but i can help.

Heres an 8th order triple reflex i designed last week. Ive never seen/heard one for car audio but it would look sick if you did one wall with plexi.

Note: I did it quick so dont hate..

Was simply replying to "pos forum".

GOSH

If I was a 6th order bandpass expert, I would have gladly helped. Sorry.

Just so you know cisco I dont have any experience with bandpass boxes and had planned to build one but I like flexibility to modify and a bandpass doesnt offer it so Ive resisted building one. I still would like to build one but for now its a no go. I have used and heard a few bandpass boxes and will say if I build one it wont be with a plexi window because its expensive if you buy what you should to keep it from flexing. I would use all mdf.

yeah i'm not into plexi anyway. this would be straight spl. i would have a totally different box for daily use. horn-pass tuned to 45 and the external aero's tuned to 50 should give a nice peak right in the middle. resonant frequency of my sho is 46 so it's a good starting point even if it doesn't work out.

With my image dynamics idq 12 in a sealed box 1.15 before the sub I hit loudest at 41 to 43 hz 44 hz was close I think but not as loud. The box was firing up at the back of the trunk. I put my resonant engineering entry level re 12 in the same box and had the same results. I never tried firing forward so I dont know the results there but I did try firing back and it was 2 db less loud at those frequencies. Keep in mind these subs have a low fs of 20 hz and im thinking that would change with a higher fs sub and the box size if it was ported since they are larger could change things too.

I think I did get 44 hz to match spl wise once but it wasnt in an ideal position to place a larger enclosure.

also the meter I used wasnt 100% accurate but I knew the correction amounts in general and they seemed close to the ear as well.

did you ever take the backseat out? in mine, it is two seperate pieces. seat bottom and then the back cushion. if you take off the back cushion there is a space into the trunk about 34 wide with a 4 inch metal bar directly down the middle. my option was to cut through the metal or to build around it. if you look at my design, the aero port(s) would be firing into the cabin through the passenger side and the horn would fire into the drivers side. my only problem, since this will be an spl box only, would be sealing off the trunk temporarily. i have no idea how i should do that.

I never took the back seat out but with the amount of air being trapped in my trunk it would have to be louder. I just dont like the thought of my car with no back seat plus its more of a challenge to make it loud with it in.

very true. i'll have my backseat in 97% of the time. only during testing and actual competition will it be out.

my car had a factory jbl 8 inch woofer bolted to the rear deck in the trunk. does yours have this?

No just the 6.5's in the back deck and the fronts in the door are probably 5.25's.

Well I was thinking of picking up an orion 2500d and I have a choice of dual 1.4 coils or dual 2. Its getting a fresh recone since my brother put 6000 watts rms to it but he got 15 burps total out of it before it broke I think.

uhh Cam built a bandpass (i dont think it was a 6th order), but I think he got the design from pete kulicki(spelling?)also i could be way off with the name but it looked like a solid well thought out design. Maybe hit Cam with a pm since I havnt seen him on here in a while.

you mentioned sealing off the box... line the trunk with plastic and painters tape and use great stuff spray foam.. you can cut it all out when your done

your burping outlaw or legal?

if outlaw burp with the trunk open, your going to get some better numbers since your still going to get rearwave cancelation

well the problem is sealing it off temporarily, as this will be a burp box only. are you suggesting i cut out the foam after each use?
