I took off the door panel last night and also had to cut up my door a little. Then I removed the factory grill for more space.
Upload

Today I put the door back on and started laying down the tape and foil. I couldn't get any effin tape to stick to my door for some reason. I used this different kind of duct tape and that seemed to work. Then I put the painters tape over that.

Then I put down some chopped mat...

Suggestions and tips are welcome.:-)

After I applied a few layers of mat, I waited a little over an hour and it was definitely hard enough. Then I popped it out and trimmed the excess off. I can't believe how hard it was to get the excess fiberglass off. I learned that its not a good idea to go too much over where your cut off point is lol. I still need to tweak the over all shape of the mold to get it the way I want.

looks good . Dont forget to wear a mask when sanding that stuff.
I like to use a belt sander w/50grit to do all the trimming to size and rough sanding. makes short work of it. I get the impression from your third pic, U use a hacksaw.

Yea, when I first took the mold out of the door, I used a hack saw to get it down to the line and then i used this sanding block piece to sand it down to the line. I'm not sure what its called but its more like a metal hand file. It worked great though.

I just got done wrapping the drivers side and the pics are uploading. I wasn't really sure how to start wrapping them so i started on one end and it wasn't going too well. So after I failed the first time, I tried starting from the ring and working my way out. It worked a lot easier for me that way.

Alright, so I got the other pod wrapped and after the rain finally stopped I drenched both of them in resin. They took close to 12oz each. I'm starting to run low on resin..

Jus wondering though,it looks like where you have the tweet mounted its pointing towards the dash. May just be the pic but how does it sound like that? Did you think about mounting the tweet in the pods you made?

his tweeters move in the mounting bracket he his so he can point them wherever he wants, but i don't believe he points them at the dash.

Yea, Those are the tweeter locations. Like snow said they move where I want. I point them towards the rear view mirror. They arnt on an angle towards the dash, I think thats just the angle of the pic. I've listened to them up by the a pillars and they don't blend right when up there.

Isn't it great when things start coming together Steve? Oh and your idea of angling the tweeters towards the windshield is recommended by many. The sound reflects off of the windshield to give you good imaging but it depends on the vehicle of course. Keep up the great work man, it's looking real good already.

Thanks, Rob. I know people recommend it that way but like you said it depends on the vehicle and it doesn't sound right to me with my car.:-)

When I got back from work, I started on the pods right away. After I got done cutting off all the excess fleece on the back, I sanded down all the bumps on the surface to make it somewhat smooth. Then I opened up the body filler(bondo). It was my first time ever using any type of body filler so after I got a feel for it, It was kinda fun. I still have a lot of sanding to do. I only did the filler on one of the pods because the mosquitos were bitting me up and it was getting dark. I don't have work tomorrow so I'll be working on them all day until I feel they're ready for vinyl(which I still need to order).:-)

Well everyone, I finally finished up just a little while ago. I've been working on these literally all day long. Words cannot describe how happy I am with these. There is SOOO much more mid bass its awesome. In some songs I thought I had my sub on real low, but it wasn't even on. I finally had a chance to give these some real power. They are so fucking loud its crazy. For the first time ever, I actually can't wait until I'm off to work so I can listen to them.

I want to give a thank you to Phil for helping me with all the supplies I needed and tips. A thank you to Nick V for giving me pointers and suggestions to make sure that my pods don't fall apart:P and another thank you to BernyMac for all the tips. :-)

And now for the pics(I can only post so much at a time or else they dont load, IDK why lol):

After I sanded it down as smooth as I thought I would need it, I sprayed it with some primer

Finished passenger pod:-)

While I was at the fabric store, I came across some velvet. I gave it some thought and said what the hell I guess I could try it. When I was playing around with it, I really didn't like the way the velvet looked in the car. So I decided to use the back of it instead. It was more of a flat black and I think it looked alot better. I really liked how it turned out. I'm not sure if i want vinyl anymore.:-)
