Just wondering for those who decided to go with a direct connection vs. a terminal cup, what options did you take to make this happen... I can only think of running the speaker wire through a drilled hole...any others?? Thanks!

Drilling a hole and running the wire is the way to go. Also, tie a knot on the inside so you can't pull the wires from the sub accidentally and seal up around the wire with silicone or caulk. Terminal cups suck in my opinion but they're convenient.

Drill hole, run wire though it and seal it that's what I do.

Or use terminal posts. Seen people use a bolt/nut/washer combo and put sealant around that.

Yeah I dont' like that method either, just giving examples of what I've saw. I like the posts myself because they are easy to install and easy to disconnect the cables from. Others don't like the cups because they tend to leak because its just thin plastic.

You mean like Rob said and MS needlessly repeated.

I used to direct connect all the time. But after I got a box from BJ I grew fond of binding post's.

I'm always fond of the finished look terminal cups/posts give. Plus if you use banana plugs it's even easier.

I know it's another connection but still.

I once (out of shear boredom) connected a light switch between the speaker box and amp and honestly couldn't hear a difference. Subs only though.

For whatever that's worth.
