Ok, I'm starting my box build this week for my 15" Mag...just wondering, since I am installing it my 2001 Grand Am, back seats DO let down, would it be dumb to have the box SUB UP and PORT BACK or should I just do SUB/PORT Back? Thanks!

In the majority of N-Body cars, when you're dealing with a box that big, it is actually louder with subs and port firing into the cabin.

I have an Alero so I can guarantee you that you wont be disappointed with a box like that.

I read an review somewhere a while ago where it said that it is better to have the sub/port rearfiring rather than have the sub up or firing into the car... I guess that's what I'm going to do then! Thanks guys

the more bass reflects off of the better it sounds. the lower the tone the longer the wave so by firing back you allow the wave to be longer before it hits your ears.

It's loudest in my car with subs back, port back. I've tried many different ways.

Hard to give a definite answer. Trial and error ftw

I personally would try port and sub facing back but thats coming from a guy who hasn't ever tested a car like yours.

Nick, what do you mean by N-body cars? New body cars?

"Nick, what do you mean by N-body cars? New body cars?"
General Motors N-platform vehicles like the GA and Alero.

"I read an review somewhere a while ago where it said that it is better to have the sub/port rearfiring rather than have the sub up or firing into the car."

Wrong. Not for your vehicle. When you put a 4cuft NET box in that trunk and fire it to the rear, it will not be near as loud as it would be if you fired it into the cab.

But don't listen to me, I've only built several boxes for that trunk and metered it both ways.

Lol, asking for advice and not taking it FTL. You should listen to people that have ACTUAL EXPERIENCE and not what they think will work.

I honestly just figured out what cabin meant. I just misunderstood what you talking about. so the same concept applies to the two door cars of the N body too?

Yes. The trunks are the same.
