If tuned to 40hz it should be louder at 40hz. If tuned to 32 it should be louder at 32hz. Make sense?

I'd tune to 40hz but you'll lack a bit on the bottom end of course.

Anything tuned to 40hz will be louder then 32hz, given everything is equal. Just remember when tuned to 40hz it will not play that low, but at 32hz it will sound better.Polo.

It depends strictly on the sub ;)
Some subs can play well below tuning without a problem.

U want it loud to your ear or the mic. I have my type Rs box tuned to 28hz and it gets down. moves a lot of air
