Well ive got a hifonics BXi1208D amp and two cvrs and im looking to upgrade to some new 12inch subs that would be a good match for my Brutus.....no more than $300 for the pair. Im contemplating two type r's for 250 shipped, but im sure you guys could suggest a way better combo.

well the type R's i'm getting are about $240. i think those new mags retail for like 400, i doubt i'll be able to stay under 300 for a pair.

Talk to Kevin Holden.

He is selling a pair of RD Classics for $250 shipped. What a deal, I paid $325ish last year for a pair of 10s. The SQ is very good, you will be happy with the upgrade no doubt. Plus they sound good sealed.

What are you trying to achieve? Louder? better sound quality? Both?

What kind of box do you have your CVR's in?

well i want some nice SQL, and from what i've heard the type R's can get loud and still maintain SQ.

my CVR's are in a MTX bass slammer vented box from circuit city lol

try a pair of the ed subs that are on sale for $50 each. pair should run you know more than $150 shipped and would have better sq than the cvrs' and type rs'. or try a different box for the cvrs' imo, it's not like the type rs' sound so much better than those that you'd really need to 'upgrade' them.

no, the type rs' will not sound so much better than cvrs' that you should upgrade. like i said, get a new box and try that out first.

or, imo buy mr. kebos' id subs he's selling. great sounding subs with nice output and you wont find these anymore since they only made them for a little while.

and no one here has heard the sonances' (that i recall reading anyways), so you wont get any truely honest opinions on those.

Jeremiah25 and I did a little testing on the SDC2.5 at my shop last night in his explorer.

One SDC2.512 in 1.8 net cubes tune to 38Hz ran at 2ohm load on the AQ2200D with the gain turned down a little. ESTIMATED power was 600-800 watts.

Scores on the dash dbdrag style legal on the tl were:

144.7 at 50hz
141 and change at 40hz

We didn't push the sub to its limits; it still had some left. No damage or smell.

We also did some playing around with our new German made AQG-6.5 comps and I am very happy with those.

The new SDC2.5 series is my personal choice for a daily driver. It has very good soundquality and can get very loud.
