All right. NOOB to this stuff. My bro had a system in his old car, when I was like 10, but all I remember is that it was loud. Looking at buying an 400 watt (bridged), or 800 watt max power MTX amp from my friend for $125 with all the wires and stuff. Isn't that a good deal? And if I do get it, what kinda subs should I get? I want 2 12"s in a bandpass box. I've been looking on eBay, and saw some nice bandpasses with 2 2000 Audiobahn subs...shipped for $200. Is that a good deal? Also, what is a good deck that you'd suggest with the amp and subs I'm lookin for. Keep it in the $150 price range. Well anyone can reply, I just wanted to have a way to let Derek know I wanted his advice. Thanks!!!

Also, I was just looking on eBay at bandpass boxes, and saw one that looked good (like I said, noob), with 2 subs, shipped for $155. If I did buy it, I would probably listen to the subs, and they sounded real good, (which i HIGHLY doubt) then I would keep them. If not, then sell them as a pair on eBay for like $50. Here's the link:

Also, I noticed the subs facec each other...does that make it sound better, worse, no difference, or what.

Also (last one, I promise), I saw a bandpass (the one I talked about in my first post, the one with the 2 Audiobahns...the subs were facing the opposite direction of the plexiglass, so you saw the flame grill things. Would this make it sound different? How. Thank you'll SOOO much!!

well first of all, it would help a lot if you could find out the model of the 400 watt amp your friend is planning on selling you. it would also help if you knew for sure it worked and ur friend wasnt trying to sell u damaged equipment :). but anyways, im not a huge fan of bandpass boxes, i actually own one right now, but i hate that it is so one sided, thats the problem with bandpass, is that they sound really good on a few notes, but with the others, its really lacking. so i'd recommend sealed in most applications.

the link you gave me just goes to some alpine search results, there is no bandpass box...

as for the subs facing each other, usually its just for looks, and does not make too much of a difference, but you will find that a lot of bandpass enclusures are like this.

as for the head unit, or deck. are you looking at 150 on ebay or 150 installed? i can find you a good one for around 150 on ebay, here are a couple that are nice.
