Hey guys, havnt been on here in a while.
I just need advice. I have the opportunity to buy a DD 9515 for $600 or a 9512 for $500. (I live in Australia so price difference is big between here and there... DD 9500 series usually sell here for ~$1000).

Anyway, both subs can be wired to 1 ohm and I have 1500rms available. I listen to alot of dance music and occasionally some rap. Which will you recommend?

Btw i will be upgrading from a CVR on 400rms and this sub had alot of trouble playing the higher frequencies in dance music.

Yea i assumed that. But the main reason for the upgrade is due to the fact that i listen to dance music alot now and the bass sounds like crap on the 15" CVR. Would there be any difference between the 15" and the 12" in regards to dance music bass.

Would there be much difference in the frequencies they play. Like is the 9512 better than the 9515 in playing kick bass and higher frequencies or vice versa or no difference at all?
Ive never used DD and I have no clue about this.

Different size subs do not have different SQ. The only variable is going to be loudness, the 15" will be louder. So get that IF you can fit a big enough box for it. Those need at least a 4 cu.ft. box.

straight from DD's site. once again M.S. acts like he knows all...

different motors. where are you buying these from? i don't know alot about DD but i'm pretty sure the e motor is newer. i'm not sure you would be able to tell a difference. i agree with rovin though. with 1500 watts i would get the 3515.

Reece...I think M.S. is saying that it needs that 4 cf to perform at its best

1500 rms is plenty of power for a 9515, trust me, I have more experience with DD's than anybody on this forum.
I keep hearing everyone saying they need so much power to perform, its just not true.

Also, the 3500, on 1500 watts, and the 9500 on 1500 watts, the 9500 is louder.
The 95 is more efficient due to it's incredible amount of motor force.
We did "drop-in" testing on multiple occasions and the 95's are flat out louder even with limited power.

As for your question as to which will sound better, I would go with the 9515 over the 12. I have heard both in various applications.
As MS said, the 15 will perform better with a larger enclosure, but so will the 12, space should be your primary concern here as both subs will perform well.

^ I promise you the 9500 doesn't perform to its potential on 1500 watts. Not EVEN close. My 9512 loves 2880 watts. =)

You think that 9512 would love 2880RMS from a sine wave all day?

Like i said, im running 1500rms for now...

My car is a POS lol. I dont want to upgrade electrical system until i get a better car which will be soon. So when that happens, i will be running over 2000rms.

And before you guys start warning me that running that power on a stock system is dangerous and all that, i already know and im not going to be an idiot with such good equipment.

im with zac even though he has more experience but anyways. I has a dd 9512 on about 1000 watts and it slammed i mean obviously it will get louder with more power but still it sounded sweet. I added more later when i got a bigger amp.

I would get the 9515

Hey guys thanx for all your help but i have made my decision. The guy wanted a bit more than what i wanted to pay for the 9515 so i got the 9512.

Now all i need are some suggested box designs. I will make a new thread, so please any input on design will be appreciated.

Once again, thanx for your help.
