I just got a 1000w RMS mono amp with a 550 watt 4 channel amp. When i play any music lound my lights dim. I was wondering if i get a new battery if that would help any. I have a dry cell right now. I was looking into a Kinetic or Optima. I only listen to the music loud when im driving, not stationary. Thanks for any help.

You need an HO alternator. A good battey like a Kinetik or Odyssey (not optima) wouldn't hurt though.

Optima batteries are still good but stay away from the red tops for car audio. Hell, even some world records were set with Optima batteries.

Are capacitors still good to use these days? Thus, being a possible solution? I remember having one installed when I was running two 12" Kicker subs on a MTX Thunder Amp, along with a Kenwood Mid. This was more like a little over 10 years ago.

No, people don't really use capacitors anymore if they know how they truly work. In some cases a crazy amount of capacitors or farads is useful but for the most part capacitors are useless.
