i have a pair of 6.5 infinty kappa perfects and i am running them on a 300 watt 2 channel orion cobalt amp.

i am also running a 1800 watt kenwood amp and two 12" treos that take 500rms. i have 75 amp alternator(if that is relevant at all) and i am using 4 gauge power wire. and 12 gauge speaker wire for the speakers

i really need to find out WHY my speakers are clipping. are they not getting enough juice? do i need a cap?

i have the gain on my mono amp less that 1/4 and the gain on my 2 channel about 1/4 as well. should i consider an alternator or will that not solve my problem.

hmm i get a odd feeling you wired them paralell and got them wired to 1 ohm or something. another thing u just said you have a 2 channel 300 watt amp running the kappas but you said the kappas are 60 watts? then say the amp is 60 x2? so which is it? if ur doing 150 a speaker then that's why your clipping.

arent the infinity kappa PERFECTS 100rms? and 4 ohms?

the KAPPAS are 2ohm.

that being said, you might be pushing your speakers too hard, your amp is rated at 80rms at 2ohms. set your gains with a dmm or turn them back a bit.

also make sure that your crossovers arent set too low. they should be around 100hz-125hz

there is no 1800 watta knenwood mono amp.it might be 1800 watts max.the amp you are talkin about is 900 watts rms.rms watts=how many watts the amp will really do.max=marketing scheme

then why did you tell us "my mono amp is 1800"? lol just giving u a hard time man

maybe your crossovers are set too low and you are hearing the speakers pop from too much bass?

1. set gain all the way down.
2. turn up your radio to 3/4 of the volume.
3. go to your amp and start turning up the gain slowly, when you hear distortion, back off a bit and there you go.
4. set HP xover to 100Hz.

should help solve the problem...
