Alright, i wanted to get this distribution block.

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNF-12

but i dont know what size fuse to get. Later on i am going to upgrade to 0 gauge, but for now i will be using 4 gauge. So would it be fine to get the appropriate fuse rating for 0 gauge, but put 4 gauge into it. And the other side i am putting 8 gauge in. So what fuse size should i select for this? Thanks.

You want to put a fuse rated for 0ga on a 4ga wire?

yes. or 1 gauge. but the highest fuse type rating i can only choose is 150 amps.

you put the fuse size you need on while not exceeding the wires maximum rated limits...and your fuse size is determined by the total fuse size of all the amps connected to that power wire

DO NOT put in a larger fuse than you wire is rated for.

"while not exceeding the wires maximum rated limits"

I think I covered that M.S.

Haha I know I just wanted to re-enforce that. Correct fusing is probably the single most important thing to do in an electrical system.

125 for 4 gauge and 50 for 8 gauge. those are just the maximum ratings but you could use smaller fuse rating but never go over like for example dont put 200amps with 4 gauge. for example i have 4 gauge and i have an 100 amp fuse, works perfectly fine.

Yeah if your amp has 160 amps of fusing you need at least 2 gauge wire.......

well if your amp has two 80 amp fuses im going to assume your running your amp at half its potential so stick a 80 amp fuse in if thats the case...by the way with a 80 amp fuse and only producing 700 watts rms that amp would have to be only about 60% efficient...what amp do you have

Umm thats a 1400w amp dude.

And you'd better read this page before you even think about not using a fuse

http://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htm

That is unless you want to start a fire and/or destory your electrical system

well he did say hes running half the amps rated power so all he needs is an 80 amp fuse...but snow as far as the distribution block you add up the total amount of amperage going to that block and put that size fuse in it

Ah I missed that part.

Alright lets clear this up once and for all:

You have 4 gauge wire, that means you use a 100-125 amp fuse.

If the fuse blows you're drawing too much current ans you need bigger wire.

And you don't need a distro block.

Get a 125a inline fuse (under hood). Then get a 80a fuse (for autotek) and a 30a fuse (for keeker) both for your distro block.

With this done there is no way to overload your current 4 ga, so you are safe to bump

*Like M.S. stated, If you put to big of a fuse on a wire and too much current is allowed flow through, you could melt the rubber off and kill your car, or possibly kill yourself. So do what I just said or die!!!

Have a nice day...

hes right...but depending on how your going to run the kicker amp you might need to adjust the fuse rating under the hood...are you goung to run 2 or 4 ohms stereo

If you already have the 120a fuse the kit came with (inline fuse) that will work just fine too.
