If im adding a sub to a factory system, does it matter if it is a single or doubble voice coil? what does the voice coil do for ya anyways?

Thanks m@

The voice coils are the coiled up wire on the back of the sub that the amp powers,

single voice coil 2 ohm needs mono amp 2 ohm
single voice coil 4 ohm needs brigded 2 channel amp
dual 2 ohm voice coil (4 ohm sub) needs 2 channel
dual 4 ohm voice coil (8 ohm sub) needs bridged 4 channel amp.

(above ratings are per sub, eg you can run 2 dual 2 ohm subs off a 4 channel amp

dual 4 is for competitions and can get expensive
nice subs available for $300 in dual 2's.

This has no relevance on what your stock system is, however, to run a sub in the first place check to make sure that your deck has sub out, otherwise u have to use a line converter off your back speakers, low voltage, not best idea.
