I would just use the rated..... you will not get every last watt anyways and you never know how precisely accurate a birthsheet is.

Actually let me revise that....... if it's an amp thats known to be very underrated (I'm thinking of the rockford power series in particular) then you could go higher.

I'd still do 750....... that 930 is probably at 14.4 volts.

I thought Kicker amps were 12.5v or 12.8v to get rated power. Hell I can't remember to many companys out there.

the 750 will probably do rated power at 12.8, but I agree with MS that using 750w to set the gain would be the better way to go. That way it's known that under the amp won't clip under any circumstance. Besides - what's the difference between 750 and 850?? Nothing audibly, just more stress on the amp.

ok....now I have another question on the matter. the prior was what I put in my girlfriends jeep. but, I'm getting ready to buy the audioque 1200d to push my 2 12" CVR's would I just use the 800 I need to get the voltage? or how would I go about setting the gain without hurting the subs?

I would use 1200...... those subs can take a little more than rated as long as it is clean power. That is the key.

As long as you don't do anything dumb like use bass boost, boost bass with EQ settings, etc it will be all good.

That DOES need to be off when setting the gain though. Along with any other sound processing features.

yup, ten-4. but, hypothetically speaking if I were to buy an amp that produced more power than I was wanting to give my subs would I get the volts for the the wattage I'm wanting and not the volts for the rated power of the amp?

Yeah you would use the max amount of power you want it to produce
