I plan on building a box or two soon, Im not sure what I want the tuning frequency to be on them. I listen to rap almost all of the time, I want sql, I love low notes so I dont want the box to cut those off at all, The subs I plan on using for this set up are 12" alpine type-r's. Let me know your oppinion on what I should tune it to.

Thanks alot

oh man a true 40 hz tune is garbage in my book it wont hit the lows as loud or as clean as a low tuned box...thats if the subwoofer your using can handle a low tune...usually indicated by the subwoofers fs

The 12" type-r has a fs of 28hz, is that what I should tune the box to?

I want good range and I really dont wanna lose any low notes.

Given other variables are the same, a lower tune will put more of an emphasis on lows, and a higher tune will often have a bit more of a peak, with less strength on the lower notes. Also the higher the tune the higher your filter will have to be, causing you to lose even more lows if you want to be safe with your equipment.
