There is no best. Subwoofers can differ on install, car size, and many other factors. There are certain great subwoofers in a certain price range. YOU need to tell US how much you want to spend, what are you looking for out of a system, and how powerful is your electrical system>

I have an 02 Impala. And as for price range, I would maybe go up to $500 for a 15". Also, is it necessary to have 2 15" subs or is one 15" good?

If you have room for 2 15" subwoofers and enough electrical upgrades to fully power both then it will be louder with 2. If you would have to cut back on power or box volume to fit 2, stick with one.

Personally 2-15's or 2-18's just impresses people looking at it. I used to run 2 15" kicker comp's on 300wrms in a 8cu^ft box @ 35hz in my jeep cherokee sport. People were always impressed. Then i put in 2 Treo Tsx 12's which are louder and people don't react the same when they see/hear the setup.

Sure multiple subs impress people but when an old man like myself pulls up behind you letting a 35hz note go effectively rendering your rearview mirror useless, the look on your face when I show you a single sub is priceless! Polo.. :-O

I was gonna make vids of the old box but the fcker cracked, single baffle not good. The new box is a triple front and tripple back and will be more of a mild SQL performer a lot smaller than the one it is in now. Sh!t if I had a heated garage all would have been done but it is to cold to lay up resin/fiberglass for the new box install, sucks being busy.... Polo..

Actual weight doesn't really matter seeing as when it comes to sound pressure, the Z's are true heavy weights.
