Good luck with that man. You really should have done some more research and/or asked around for some help. Using your old ports is definitely not the best choice.

Are you going to put a brace in the middle of the box!! I would recommend to do it anyway! I don't think you going to be able to use those ports unless you can figure out how to lengthen them, but can't really tell from looking at pic, hopefully it will work out for you. Are going to carpet it? BTW It looks good so far! keep taking and posting pic's

I know it wasn't the best idea. But if I made my own ports I would of had to buy another piece of wood. And I didn't have the money for that. And yes I am carpeting it. And I am putting a brace in the middle. Oh, and I'm looking for a bigger amp. I really want a Ma Audio Hk802sx, it's over powering it but I don't care. I don't even care if I blow the subs they SUCK. Haha. The box is REALLY good for lows. I mean really good. And I am gonna do the big 3 soon when I get the money and also buy a new alt. And my friends older brother might be buying it for 800 for the box 600 watt amp cap and subs. I think that's a good deal on my end. So, yeah.

I'm sorry but...wow.

And 2 random ports firing it different directions???

Please, I beg you. If you decide to build another box (a good box)...please ask for a little help. Many of us on hear are more than happy to help out.

I'd redo the port(s). I'd just make a big slot facing the rear of the vehicle. You seem to have done a decent job other than that and the miss-matching subs.

Just slap a piece of mdf over the hole(s) you made, and add the one extra piece in for the port after cutting a hole. It'll be so much better. PM me and I'll help you figure out the tuning and all if you want to do the work.

Yeah i had mismatched subs once upon a time.... not good. It worked better with just 2 subs that were the same. Also probably going to need wider/longer ports. listen to troy on that.

Trust me i do. Last time I went to the doctor I weighed 150. I eat ALOT. I just do alot of exercising. But I think I'm just gonna sell this setup to my friends brother for 800 bucks and then get 1-2 18" Elite SPL V.2. Then run 2-3 RD 7250.1D's. And I'm getting the big 3 soon and a better alternator. I know I have alotttttt of saving to do. But, for ^^^^^ setup would be amazing.

na the elite spl isnt for you unless doing straight comps. i think the hw v.2 is a better match. the elite spl is strictly for burps. the hw cn take a massive amount of power musical. but those 7250.1s are some very exp amps lol. and they put out s to of power.

maybe 2 hw v.2 18s and 2 3250s? that would be ungodly loud.

2 18" HW v2s, Fi BTLs, tc-5200s, DD 9500s or several other subs would def. be a great upgrade with 6k+rms.
I'd be sure to upgrade your electrical system first- Dual alts and extra batts. Otherwise you'll be staring at expensive crap on the floor for a while, or hurting your equipment while not getting its potential.

well you tried...and even though you used the ports from your old box it will have a lower tuning than the factory box did because the box for your four 12's is larger...whatever you design next make sure its realistic because you have to have the charging system to run the system properly

With that siliconed seam there, you better soak in in pool water with a ph of at least 7.3 to 7.8, but no less than 7.2 so it will expand enough to make bring back the integrity of a solid piece of mdf and to secure that you don't have any future leaks. ooh!! make sure water temp is in the mid 80's no more than 87 degree's or you could warp the sides and that would cause a major loss in DB's at least 22%

Silver Member

I guess I should of gone into more detail, sorry! The alkality and calcium content of the pool will change the ionic balance in the wood to make it much stronger especially where there is a seem that is not backed, screwed, glue together! But do not get any inside of the box, i mean it! none!! You might have to sit on it to get it up to the top of the box, just have your dad hold you so you don't float away and get lost!

it seems to be louder on the higher notes.

maybe this is because you didn't bother to calculate the correct port size./length.

nahh like I said above its tuned lower than his prefab box which was probably 40- 45 hz because his box is larger than the box the ports were originally in

6.86 roughly after displacement figured on the subs closest to us in pic. your batman ports are going to be a problem, best bet would be to just build a slot port. But 1st you need to decide exactly which subs you using! It is pointless to do all the work if you dont know what sub.

"cam, that's why I put the "IMO" in case you missed it."

What you now need to focus on is getting your equipment, install and tuning sorted...

You gotta crawl before u walk...

ok I got a 74 hz port tune on the old box but I took notice to something your ports are sideways not upright and according to the slot port calculator that changes things on your box with the four 12's its tune should be 37.4 hz instead of 42 hz...I dont no why the calculator says it makes a difference but it does
