It's damn near impossible to completely seal a door well......... even then, it would be way too much airspace for a little 5.25" or 6.5" speaker. A real enclosure designed for the speaker should make the difference.

If you're lucky there may be enough space for it inside the door. If not, surface mount. For example:

That is done completely from scratch BTW, the truck had no speakers in the doors to begin with.

if your speakers are in your door try this

take half a milk jug get it in your door seal it to the door where it meets the speaker baffle and seal it up, with great stuff foam. then spay some on the outisde of the milk jug to prevent flexing.

Haha thats actually a clever idea....... except I would put fiberglass resin on it to make it solid........ not sure how well it would work.

yeah its kinda getto but you cant tell from inside the car when they are mounted. also keeps water off of them. thats why i did in my car. i thought about resin but it might eat threw the cheap plastic. the great stuff dries hard and works great. and i got it filled with polyfill. sounds great. i have a MDF baffel on the front of it.
