the max on the speaker is 1000 watts and mrs is 500. I was thinking about geting a cheap amp like a legacy and geting one that was 1000 watts hoping it could atleast put out 500 watts instead of shelling out 3 or 4 hundred on a more expensive amp.

a legacy amp will say 1000 watts peak but only put out 200 watts rms. there are other cheaper brands like pyramid and boss that are in the same price range as legacy. shop around and keep your options open. how much do you have to spend on an amp? maybe i could help you.

check out discountsjungle.com jamie. it's a great site that sells brand new amps really cheap. while you're on the site, you might want to take a look at the rockford fosgate punch 500s amplifier. it puts out 500 watts bridged and costs less than $200.
