-How do they compare to slotted or sealed boxes?
-Is it a good idea to do?
-If so what subs are good to use with it (500rms amp)? I was thinking 2 15's.

Any advise is good.

They suck bad........ don't do it. Speakers need an enclosure.

usually Infinite Baffle/Free Air Systems are used in sq type setups but I have seen a few spl types

Free air is used in competition? I thought free air was used in the buckets owned by the most hardcore of the noobs...

I don't think its fair to say all IB sucks azz or are bad. I've seen a few of them that were very well done and had exceptional results. I have not heard any in person but have seen a few online.

CA has a good one done with a ID MAX I believe. I've also seen a few done on CAF. Mostly sq set-ups.

We just need to remember that free air and infinite baffle are not the same.
