This has been discussed on DIYMA in a test between the 3, the order from best to least was 9887, PRS 880, CD 7100.

^i saw that thread, but i believe that when you get into \models of those brands you cant go wrong with either three...im an eclipse guy myself, never ran anything else so im slightly biased, but i think all three are top notch

i've been seeing good and bad reviews for both.. its like 50/50

i guess a plus for alpine would be if i wanted to step up i could match it with the PXA-H701

... but then theres the cd7100 again.. :P

How did the P9 combo, P1R, and the 8053 get left off the list?

There's a lot of SQ HUs out there, all depends on money and if you don't mind getting a used one. My favorite has always been Eclipse, and Alpine next. Never liked Pioneer, but that's just me.

Is it just me, or are they starting to slack on the quality of HUs anymore? I still have some old Eclipse decks laying around back in Idaho. An no, they're not for sale :D.

control Jake, Control... Yea, I hate looking at stuff like that.. Worse is going into shops and seeing something. Its harder to walk away when its in your hand. I would like to come across one some day.

I just looked at Eclipse's new line. They look quite nice... I'll have to wait and see what the reviews look like...
