Silver Member Username: TreezPost Number: 245 Registered: Aug-06 | I have a 15 fi-q in a box tuned to 30hz on a jl 1000/1.. At volume 5 there is a loud tearing sound coming from the sub. I double check my gains(which were set using a DMM)and the sound continued... When i played it free air it was evident that the tinsel leads were too short... I dont wanna end up like the guy in the link below whose sub suffered partially ripped leads. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291192 Can they be lengthened or is replacing them easier... Since my efforts to contact fi were to this date, futile... Can anyone offer advice...? |

I bought this sub to see what the hype was all about, and never got a chance to find out. I've been having this problem as of day i've recieved it... Is there any alternative solution... anyone...any do it yourself remedies.... No i havent tried their forum. |

Does ordinary solder work..cuz i would imagine that they (the tinsel) are subjected to rigorous tension during excursion... I wanna get the problem fixed before my other subs get here, cuz then i'll have no time to attend to it..... |
